The Venissa Estate sits in Mazzorbo, an island of Venice that, together with Torcello and Burano, represents Native Venice: an archipelago of nature, colours, flavours and art.
Venissa is a perfect example of a “walled vineyard”: inside it, the grape variety called Dorona di Venezia grows, an indigenous grape of the lagoon, cultivated for centuries and almost extinct following the 1966 great flood of Venice (grande acqua alta). The wine produced from Dorona grapes is Venissa white wine, one of the most sought-after wines by wine lovers all over the world.
The lagoon and Native Venice are among the most popular destinations with Gourmets from all over the world because of their culinary excellences, which are becoming more and more valued and appreciated. The dishes belonging to the lagoon tradition are therefore the protagonists at Osteria Contemporanea di Venissa, reinvented through Francesco Brutto’s talent with some changes in the preparation and presentation of the dishes which make our culinary proposal simply unique. Gianluca Bisol explains: “We want to offer dishes that combine tradition and innovation at a venue with a unique atmosphere, where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city for a moment, letting yourself be overwhelmed by the green and peace of the lagoon”.
In order to fully experience Venissa, it is possible to spend the night in one of the five rooms of the Wine Resort, within the estate, between the lagoon and the vineyard, or in one of the thirteen rooms at Casa Burano, on the other side of the bridge, on the island of fishermen, lace and colourful houses.
